ECAF is organizing the workshop ‘Best Agricultural Practices: Linking Climate Change mitigation and adaptation with CAP’. This event, which will be held on the afternoon of November 7th, 2018 at the European Parliament in Brussels, will highlight the outcomes of the LIFE+ Climagri project (www.climagri.eu), proposing a series of Best Agricultural Practices aligned with the main objectives of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). Furthermore, most of the practices can significantly contribute to fulfil the commitments of the European Climate Action Plan.

This workshop is jointly hosted by three Members of the European Parliament:

  • Clara Aguilera, Vice-Chair of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Parliament. Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament; Spain.
  • Annie Schreijer-Pierik, Member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety of the European Parliament and Substitute of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development. Group of the European People’s Party; Netherland
  • Ivan Jakovčić, Member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Parliament. Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe; Croatia.

The event will focus on topics with great interest for the upcoming new CAP and will take place at a time when deliberations regarding the CAP reform are in full swing. The very close relationship between European agriculture and climate change is other important issue addressed in the event. Additionally, the workshop will count on a session on which farmers of the European Network of Demo Farms (ENDF) that has been set up during the project will share their experiences and will show that the BMPs of Climagri are feasible, beneficial and profitable.

Updated information related to the workshop can be found at http://workshop.climagri.eu, where it is also possible to register.  Due to authorization procedures required by the European Parliament, registration in advance is compulsory and the info requested in the registration form necessary.

Simultaneous multi-language translation from Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish into Dutch, English and Spanish is also provided throughout the event.
